LONGi, the world's leading manufacturer of photovoltaic panels and wafers, celebrated a major milestone in its history in February, marking its 25th anniversary. On this occasion, the company also started deliveries of the new Hi-MO X10 series of 670 Wp panels with a record efficiency of 24.80% to the European market.
Over the past quarter century,LONGi has achieved remarkable success in the solar industry, where it has become the market leader in the production of photovoltaic panels and wafers (silicon wafers). LONGi was founded in 2000 and since then has strived to be the most valuable solar technology company in the world.
Since 2015, LONGi has mainly used renewable energy (solar and hydroelectric power) to power its factories in Yunnan, China and Kuching, Malaysia to provide clean energy for production. The company has thus created a sustainable "Solar for Solar" business model for harnessing solar energy.
In 2013, LONGi delivered more than 1 GW of solar wafers (silicon wafers) to the market for the first time in its history and set a new world record in 2019 for the production of 450 Wp of panels using half silicon cells. In 2021, the company launched electrolyzer production under its subsidiary LONGi Hydrogen Energy Technology and became the top employer in China as ranked by the prestigious Forbes magazine.
Emphasis on development and CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) LONGi has always attached great importance to investing in research and development of technology, which has continuously improved productivity in its factories as well as the efficiency of photovoltaic panels. Its developed multi-transition back-contact crystalline silicon (HBC) solar cell has achieved a conversion efficiency of 27.30%, setting a new world record for the efficiency of monocrystalline silicon solar cells.
In 2024, LONGi achieved further success by developing a tandem crystalline silicon and perovskite solar cell with a record efficiency of 33%.
In January, LONGi won a gold medal in EcoVadis' CSR assessment for 2025, placing it in the top 5% of 150,000 companies worldwide. The company was highly rated by EcoVadis analysts, who confirmed that "the company exhibits a high-level environmental management system, a fair business practices system and a sustainable procurement management system."
